HUAYU ENRICHMENT SCHOLARSHIP IN TAIWAN
ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP
This Chinese language scholarship offers Northwestern students the possibility to study Mandarin (huayu) in Taiwan for up to one year. The purpose is to provide students with opportunities to increase their understanding of the Taiwanese culture and society, and to promote mutual understanding and interactions between Taiwan and the international community. The Huayu Enrichment Scholarship is a stipend of 25,000 NTD (approximately 850 USD) per month. Students can go abroad for either one full year, 6 months or 3 months. A full-year scholarship runs from September 1, 2013 to August 31, 2014. Shorter language studies can be undertaken throughout the year.
The Huayu Enrichment Scholarship is available for degree-seeking Northwestern University students interested in learning or intensifying their Chinese language skills.
IMPORTANT: Please note that Northwestern University does not currently have any affiliations with any of the Chinese Language Centers on the Taiwanese Ministry of Education's approved list (see below). Students wishing to enroll in an unaffiliated foreign institution during the academic year and earn credit at Northwestern for their coursework must apply through the Study Abroad Office using the procedure for Unaffiliated Study Abroad Programs. Students wishing to earn credit for courses taken in the summer should refer to the process for Non-NU Summer Programs.
