Requirements and resources for students

On this page, you can find information about academic requirements and resources while studying at Northwestern.

Academic program objectives

International students must uphold certain academic program objectives:

  • Attend the institution listed on your Form I-20/DS-2019
  • Maintain full-time enrollment each term, which means registering for at least 3 courses in a quarter

These objectives are explained in greater depth on the International Office website.

Academic resources

Advising and assistance

You will be assigned either a WCAS or a McCormick advisor, depending on your college, to help you with academic-related questions and concerns. Here are quick links to schedule advising appointments:

Many professors hold Office Hours when they will be available for students to come in and ask them questions. Teaching Assistants (TAs) also often hold Discussion sections where you can get help.
