The Office of International Program Development (IPD) provides coordination and support to international efforts on campus and works with all schools to promote internationalization and cross-school collaborations.

IPD is home to Northwestern University's interdisciplinary Global Health Minor. The Minor is designed to provide students with skills to understand and solve complex international health issues.
|
IPD designs and administers international study and research opportunities for Northwestern students. The programs target underrepresented students and disciplines, such as premedical and engineering students, and others who might not engage in international study or research due to lack of either language skills or professionally-relevant programs abroad.
IPD also administers "direct enrollment" study abroad opportunities at many of our partners institutions abroad, which means Northwstern students will be studying with students from the host institution as well as other international students.

IPD programs are designed so that financial concerns do not restrict opportunities for international study. Fellowship opportunities exist for Northwestern students to participate in IPD programs and to conduct their own independent research projects. Funding opportunities are not limited to students with demonstrated financial need, as merit-based scholarships for program fees and well-crafted research projects also exist.

IPD organizes campus visits for individual representatives from partner institutions and ad hoc visitors interested in collaborations with Northwestern. IPD has increasingly become a central ‘clearing house’ for visiting delegations. IPD puts together programs for visitors that include presentations by university administrators and faculty, visits to labs, lunch at the Allen Center, and a campus tour. IPD makes connections between visitors’ interests and expertise on campus and accompanies visitors during the visits.
